One advantage of network model is that is provides an easy transition from the magical view that we can control the world by saying the right words to the more current view that we can control it by actions, ie words in physical language.

The physical layer comprises a set of physical symbols which the higher layers use to encode their messages. All levels (layers) of a network are present simultaneously (superposed) in any user operation [but most of their activity is transparent or invisible].
Divide network into USER and WARE
The ware for any user user is all the invisible stuff that makes the symbols input by the user interact in a certain way.

Network model of superposition.
Network objects can be superposed if they are orthogonal, that is independent objects.
Transparency: lower layers are not visible to the higher

Essence of hardware is not to determine specific states (from the set of all possible states) of the software. This is analogous to ORTHOGONALITY, which is a feature specified by summation of interactions (integration, dot product)
Networks are recursive but they have an order of control. Hardware cannot control the software but software can control hardware (both these statements are one half true, and their inverses also have truth). Hardware does not control software, but it limits it to particular inputs and outputs and limited space-time precision, ie to calculate each extra decimal place takes a longer time.
