Wake up in the morning worried, sore throat, so much to do etc, a continuum of worries, each blending into the next. So lie in bed, distinguish and order them, establish their topological structure to see which are contained in which etc. Beginning from an unbounded set of worries, One can then extinguish them in an efficient way, beginning with the most potent. This is the advantage of having a job, because it gives a fixed priority to one's thoughts and actions because it imposes an order on the rest of them.
Discomfort (non-satisfaction) : the full satisfaction of a need attains its boundaries, ie is a closed and onto mapping to all the features of the state causing discomfort.
The gravy click, CONFIRM, at which point some value changes hands, ie money is taken from my card and a book is dispatched to me. The market establishes the 'gauge' measure between two carriers of value, eg money and books.

Much of this stuff sounds pretty banal when I type it out for the net, but t all needs to be put down and looked at. It is a sort of shotgun sequencing of the physical state of my brain. Parallel to the shotgun process is the rather slower and more tedious process of assembling the fragments into a coherent whole. the Evolution section of this site.

Accounts model the business world. We begin by converting all the physical flows through the enterprise into cash flows. This task, valuation, is something of a black art and sometimes abused. The, given all the money numbers, they can be related by arithmetic operations. What is added to or subtracted from what, what multiplied and what divided is determined by the structure of the accounting model used in the enterprise. In this manner does it become conscious , in an abstract, way, of its fitness in the business environment. Given this information, it can use the abstract model to explore ways to increase its fitness, so growing and maybe reproducing the business. The network of control systems in all complex entities is generally isomorphic to this. Here we have the power of meaning. An easily manipulated abstract model, once it has generated sufficient trust [becomes an effective took for trying scenarios that would be very expensive to implement in reality].
