Hugh Everett III Relative State Formulation of quantum mechanics: my mind state is relative to the state of my universe. Everett My private feelings and motivations are a product of a lifetime of input, and my universe is at least partially conditioned b y my output. The little book referred to above is a contribution to the public state motivated by the effects the public state has on my private state.

EQUALITY = EQUAL HEADROOM

We continue the process of detribalization that began with the first empire and has gradually evolved towards globalization.

The political effect of authoritarian institutions is to reduce the power of the individual relative to the institution. The principal tool for this activity is judicial (ie institution sanctioned) murder. Eliminate those that do not fit in. While vows of poverty, chastity and obedience are not as final as death, they are part of the same agenda.

Chandler N 437:640 Chandler Once we see physics, chemistry and human society in network terms, maybe we can apply concepts like energy, entropy and free energy to social phenomena.

Mathematics is the business of building castles in the air. It is analogous to Lego. We start with a set of pieces, then we put them together. The pieces themselves define a space of possible structures.

Books

Everett, Hugh, and Bryce S Dewitt, Neill Graham (editors), The Many Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics, Princeton University Press 1973 Jacket: 'A novel interpretation of quantum mechanics, first proposed in brief form by Hugh Everett in 1957, forms the nucleus around which this book has developed. The volume contains Dr Everett's short paper from 1957, "'Relativge State' formulation of quantum mechanics" and a far longer exposition of his interpretation entitled "The Theory of the Universal Wave Function" never before published. In addition other papers by Wheeler, DeWitt, Graham, Cooper and van Vechten provide further discussion of the same theme. Together they constitute virtually the entire world output of scholarly commentary on the Everett interpretation.'

Chandler, David, "Interfaces and the driving force of hydrophobic assembly", Nature, 437, 7059, 29 September 2005, page 640-647. The hydrophobic effect -- the tendency for oil and water to separate -- is important in diverse phenomena from the cleaning of laundry ... to the assembly of proteins into functional complexes. ... Despite the basic principles underlying the hydrophobic effect being qualitatively well understood, only recently have theoretical developments begun to explain and quantify many features of this ubiquitous phenomenon.. back
