My life in theology: my relationship to god. My salvation by lust. My search for the macrocosm in my microcosm. What / who am I. It takes a while to trust new ideas. Let us imagine that quantum mechanics forces the generation of space by generating orthogonal vectors which can only be represented simultaneously in space since this is property of space that p and not-p can simultaneously exist (which is not the case in logic, where non-constructive proof works by showing that a false assumption shows itself by leading to the conclusion p = not-p). So orthogonality forces the existence

of fermions, which are therefore the logical consequence of complexification. In the pure energy regime orthogonality means the simultaneous existence (superpositions) of all the solutions to a wave equation, which can make no sense!

Mathematical existence and representation. Plato invented pure formalism which led theologians to the existence of angels. Aquinas noted that without individualizing matter there could be only one angel per species, ie they are orthogonal vectors, but he assumed, as all formalists do, that an infinity of different angels / numbers / points could exist without [discrete] representation. Aristotle rejected Plato's pure formalism and represented forms in matter. Formalist mathematics and Dionysian theology continue the platonic error so we have here a massive deconstruction of formalism and construction of physics [and maybe some qualification of Wigner's wonder at the utility of mathematics in the sciences Eugene Wigner: The Unreasonable Effectiveness of Mathematics in the Natural Sciences].

Hylomorphism is the physical representation of form and Aristotle's big break from Plato, but the platonic error runs on in Hilbert's mathematical formalism. Now is the time to sink it and all continuous mathematics and all continuous [ie symbol free] representation.

Plato came from a political family and like a true politicians he never committed himself so he wrote dialogues with many characters which have made it hard for historians to decide what he actually thought.

An obvious place to start digitizing the world is in the baryons and mesons described by Wilczek and so where the difficulty seems to be maximized by gluons and colours ad given a success at QCD QED would seem to be easy, On the other hand QED, because it is older and easier might be a better place to start, so two bob each way, but how do we explain the mass of the electron which apears to be pointlike and simple ie not composite, not to mention the vector bosons. A couple of days of relative silence while I digest Aristotle's idea that every form is represented by matter and pure formalism is an unsustainable Platonic dream. This idea puts a strong constraint on formalist mathematics, bringing it back to finitism. Non-constructive proof still has a place, but it must be conceived in terms of real particles or symbols as Landauer pointed out. All processes, like computation, must be worked out in physical detail, and the formalism of quantum field theory and calculus must be recast in the knowledge that the quantum of action is the measure of the smallest physical (real) event in the universe. Strangely it seems to be very hard to get a grip on the ides which may be why the pure fantasy of formalism is so popular and lies at the root of the theology which proposes s completely immaterial and simple god that is nevertheless omniscient. Every word I write somehow represents everything I have learnt over a long life, so writing seems a much more exhausting process now that it did 50 or 60 years ago when I did not know much and stuck to simple subjects like the economics of solar energy.

ow the layered network can fix the representation problem in physics.

Nature does not use [abstract] reference frames but does everything by actual contact.

There is an enormous amount of data storage available in the minds of the mathematical community and its literature, whereas there is no storage in the Platonic heaven where the mathematical archetypes are believed by some to exist.

Things are representatives of information . . . particles at all scales from fundamental with zero size and internal structure through to galaxies etc.

There is no storage in the initial singularity and the storage needs to be built starting with the two state system, energy, being in effect two states of the same initial singularity which accounts for the conservation of energy since all messages in the universe pass through the initial singularity which may also be called god or the initial hardware, the lowest physical layer of the universe whose dynamics are represented by the circle group and the complex numbers [what if we see potential energy as the real part and kinetic energy as the imaginary part of the circle].

Landauer is an Aristotelian pushing for information to be a physical entity that is matter (representative) and form (the represented) which is

effectively identical to memory and data since obviously Platonic forms cannot exist without a material substratum, so the real platonic world is a system whose only real [represented] existence is in the human mind and all the platonic literature that has been created following Plato.

What is the physical foundation of meaning: bonding.

So it is all working out, the network representation starts binary (energy) and then complexifies [by tensor production] building memory = symmetry [potential] and instantiating it with content = form [action]. So the layered network thing solves the Platonic / Dionysian / Thomistic representation problem.

It is very encouraging at last to realise that matter is an essential component of spirit. Aristotle put his finger on it but his theory of knowledge did not let him go all the way because he was constrained by his view of the entropy of matter and believed that it did not have enough variety to store and process the complex data of intellectual knowledge, so he appears to have postulated a spiritual ("separate") organ of intellect [which, because it had no parts and so could not corrupt, was held to be eternal]. How is reality constructed from possibility? Aristotle says by a being of pure actuality, but we have the cybernetic problem of requisite variety because of the future being more complex than the past we have to rely on the selection of representations, ie evolution by natural selection [to determine what possibilities are realized] which depends on the right couple [particles] meeting as Zurek explains, the measurement operator. Just about everything in the world is cyclic beginning at the root with energy and at the human level in the cycle of our moods which may run from the extreme of manic depressive to the gentler versions of happy-sad, awake-sleepy, and in my current case from the excitement of realising the role of representation in the universe to the tedium of documenting this new "discovery", which includes digging through old material to find footprints in the past, but these seem to be very rare.

Mathematics can only be trusted if it can be applied and it can only be applied if it can be actually represented and a continuum cannot be represented because it is nothing, and hence Noether's theorems. The platonic world [of perfect invisible forms] has no representation so it does not exist. The upshot of this is that consistency is not a complete valid criterion for mathematical existence, we must also demand representation a la Kronecker. So much of the problem with classical computation in quantum mechanics is the attempt to represent continuity by digital computation which is a mistake because the world [of action] is not continuous. Quantum - Wikipedia

So what we have to look for, therefore, is to find out how the universe itself does its symbolic computation ie how it actually works. The network model provides a route to this by the generation of complexity by layering.

We know for a start that it works by contact so the first step is to

see how contact works in the human community and for specific applications the mathematical community is a good lace to start because it creates it own languages. At the other extreme of complexity is sexual contact which involves multicellular creatures and involves a vast range of behaviour, signalling, pheromones and so on.

A good mathematical / physical place to start is Maxwell's equation which is one of the most exciting and radical applications of calculus. We guess from the equation f = E.h that one quantum of action is required per cycle of electromagnetic radiation, We have a further clue in the Lagrangian which tells us that an act happens when K - V = 0, so w have a digital quantum harmonic oscillator where each act changes potential (electric) into kinetic (magnetic) representation and vice versa [ie same form, different representation].

Once we get a grip on maxwell we an work out how an electron works (a stationary phase of the electrical aspect of a photon) why the speed of light is so, which tells us something about the nature of space. We create space by the tensor product of state vectors, ie bringing orthogonal states (p and not-p into simultaneous existence.

A state vector (ray) is in fact formally identical to a photon, ie a photon is a representation of a state vector and so we may [call it] the fundamental representation of quantum mechanics and particle physics. This idea is consistent with the heuristic of simplicity which gives us clues about how the universe works in the layers just above the initial singularity.

What we are doing here is representing a sequence of circle groups

by a physical object, ie a photon, which makes it real so we no longer have the complex numbers as some mysterious platonic object but a thing [a rotating wheel].

Similarly a qubit is a physical quantum of action and when we observe it we see it in one of the terminal states of the action or the other. The idea that a qubit can exist in an infinite superposition of normalized states may be a platonic fiction arising from the fiction of real numbers.

So, going further, operators are the representations of contacts, each contact being a message, ie a quantum of action so the only fixed points in the quantum world are the operators. This is not quite right because the state vectors are photons, particles ,which are also fixed points [predating the existence of space?].

Formalism is preferred by political conservatives [which we can imagine Plato to have been] because it enables them to neglect evidence based polity in favour of policy based evidence, so getting them the freedom to make up statements which flatly contradict reality, as in the Christian religion in general and the Catholic Church in particular hav been using with Plato as their guide. How does a photon have energy but no mass? Because it travels at the speed of light? Gravitation sees it, nevertheless.

The notion of cognitive cosmology is serving to synthesize

all my ideas and feelings, which is very satisfying. The distinction between matter and spirit which plays such an important role in many religions has finally been obliterated in the Landaurian representational thesis implicit it Aristotle's hylomorphism.

For a long time I thought my ideas were so precious that I should be very careful with my life. Now [that I am no longer involved in the dangerous work of building] I have to realize that feeling by putting some effort into publication. My fear is that I am nearing the end of my life, have no helpful contacts, and have achieved very little so far. In a way I have to be pathetic [politic] because I do not have the motivation to be dominant. I cannot feel justly motivated to dominance until I am sure I have the truth.

If I was an artist, as I was a tradesman, the truth would be solely in the performance, if the work works. Knowledge and ideology, on the other hand are harder to test, and if my claim to scientific theology is to be justified it must embrace physics as well as politics, and the physics seems to me to be a difficult mess, so the best I can do is to propose hypotheses and not claim to really know the truth which is to a large degree the scientific situation anyway. All I can achieve id a good try.

The quantum of action measures one step in the universal process [one cycle of a photon, one change in the electronic state of an atom]. The energy of an action is a count of how many steps it takes to complete, E = hf
