On with 1929 and the disaster of uncontrolled money. My essay on the divinity of money compares it to unconserved energy: cash and debt were disconnected by the banking industry. Jeffrey Nicholls (1992): An essay on the divinity of money

What is my ambition? Scientific theology based on physics feeding rational politics and global community along the same lines as universal health care based on scientific biology. This is what I wrote to Harriet.Sherwood@theguardian.com:

I was a 20yo professed brother (Anthony) in the Australian Dominican Order when there was a call for topics to be debated the Second Vatican Council. I had by that time fallen in love wth Thomas Aquinas and was greatly impressed by his revision of Christianity using the best science available in his time, ie Aristotle.

I thought the best thing the Church could do was an analogous upgrade of Christian doctrine, this time using modern science. To do this is is necessary to accept that the observable universe is itself divine. I naively wrote an essay about this: https://naturaltheology.net/History/howUniversal1967.html.

This brought me into conflict with the management since it tends to break the Catholic Church’s theological monopoly by suggesting that us indigenes could see and study divinity for ourselves. After a couple of years of discussion, my vows we annulled, I was given a new suit and expelled from the order.

I have written extensively about this idea on https://naturaltheology.net but now feel that I am getting a bit old and don’t want the idea to die with me. I therefore wish to explore the possibility of writing an article for the Guardian (my favourite periodical) proposing that scientific theology would do for religion what biology has done for health care.

The universality of human physiology means that doctors no longer have borders. The universality of the human spirit could also mean that we can break down the borders between religions which have been perennial source of conflict at least since the days when Yahweh killed all the firstborn in Egypt.

Ultimately this means that I am entering the political sphere, looking for headlines to give me a voice. I had no voice in the Order of the Church and was summarily dismissed without a ripple on the surfacer but have been biding my time and thinking as best I could and my book contains my answer: the physical universe is the body of god, a living breathing bible; literature, a human creation, is secondary to reality, a divine creation that has been perfected over 14 billion years and the true power of literature is its fidelity to reality.

Since money is the primary measure in political discourse it must be linked to reality and become a reliable standard like energy and be no longer a toy of banks and markets. Here we have a problem that has been soled by the international system of units, locking all the zoo of units in the world yo standards of action, the speed of light and time. This idea emerges as the core of the essay on justice,

Sorkin page 333: Roosevelt ‘frankly I doubt

[page 127]

if anything short of a fairly general withdrawal of deposits can be prevented now' Andrew Ross Sorkin (2025): 1929: The Inside Story of The Greatest Crash in Wall Street

The Einstein approach, as opposed to justice by jury trial or political majority, is to decide questions by irrefutable evidence and apophatic logic which he achieved in the case of special and general relativity but ran off the track when he opposed quantum mechanics with a time based determinism seeking to calculate exactly when a quantum event of a certain nature would take place. This raises the deep question of timing and causality which does ot seem to have an answer as all of the evidence points to random events although the causal content of these events explained by the light cone divides past from future. When we come to use he conservation of energy maintained by the zero sum bifurcation of gravitation as an argument for the principle of conservation of money we have to propose a set of analogous constrainsts on the bank formation of ash and debt. The gravitation analogy is,at the moment, the first step in the cognitive cosmic description of justice to be developed in the L4L Essay 2 :Justice and Accountability.

Do I have the gravitas to push this?All that matters is the data and argument. From a personal point of view I like to be certain before I act and my extensive publication on the internet + my book seems to indicate that I am comfortable with my opinions although they differ from the Roman Catholic Church and the Quantum Field Theory industry.

The central idea for me was to develop something that I could actively preach,

[page 128]

to place theology and religion on a factual scientific basis that takes full account of the nature of the world and the consequences of creation by quantum mechanics and evolution. In a way I do not want to disrupt further development of these ideas by entering politics to promote them but on the other hand it seems necessary to recruit more people to my program in order to speed it up as I come to the end of a 60 year creative sprint and want to see my baby on its way, bringing social and political engineering down from the heavens into the daily reality of everyday life, ie to add to the movement that we are indigenous to this planet and must look after it.

Reading the Billings article I have become quite excited because I can see that the whole mob of physicists have misunderstood quantum field theory concentrating on the uncertainty principle and statistical outcomes where the real power lies in the fact that Hermitian operators give very precise real eigenvalues (a multitude of them). The precision of the Hermitian

operators puts the results of classical AI in the shade because it has no way of knowing the truth. This is central to my book. ‘t Hooft cures my imposter syndrome. Lee Billings (2025_04_07): Quantum Physics Is on the Wrong Track, Says Breakthrough Prize Winner Gerard ’t Hoof

Quantum mechanics, like the fall of a die, has a random outcome but the actual outcome is precise. As with a die, we can imagine the whole Hilbert space associated with an event rotating through circuits of 2π until it comes to rest on some point.

A radical error in Christian dotrine that affected ne for a long time is that it proposes a cosmic role for human sin, somehow alienating us from reality and establishing the apocalyptic view that the

world will be renewed. Now in my role as a lone saviour, ie a preacher of truth rather than Catholic fiction, I do feel that the human world will be renewed as health care has been renewed by the recognition that the physical world is the physical text that expresses the real mind of god to which we must conform if we seek real salvation.

My dream would be to say these words and have them stick, but it is clear that this is a political dream on which I must campaign and I am ready to accept that the internet is the place to do it and the quick way is to draw attention to all the stuff I have written here which will be there at the end of the week when I publish thia weeks notes next week. As I read back over all I have written I see that it is good and needs widespread propagation.

The simple answer to all this is to start making videos on You Tube. However this is tedious and long winded and it would be much quicker and simple to stick to brief 280 letter tweets that I can do now.

[Another new tweet] Why write my book? In the Order of Preachers I saw their god as a killer (eg Joshua 10). Not my god. Try identifing god and the world? Wildlife mostly kill only to eat. They expelled me. 60 years later I write how churches can preach truth to be trusted in a scientific world. [276 chars, posted]

The ten tweets to describe the model

We can solve all the problems 0f theology and physics in the ten tweets that found Lust for life. Their current form is:

1. Let us start with the “Aquinas-Einstein singularity”: a structureless, omnipotent, eternal, zero energy topological space, continuous, complete, convex, and real. It is not omniscient like the classical God; it has no Minkowski spacetime structure: its essence is simply to exist. [280, posted]

2. Next imagine Brouwer’s fixed point theorem establishing bases for a Hilbert space as the omnipotent singularity maps onto itself. Since the singularity is structureless is has no self control so its actions are random, providing the variation necessary for creative evolution.[277, posted]

3. The bases of Hilbert space are complex periodic functions. Louis de Broglie saw that waves find stationary points when they add because ups and downs cancel. The universe evolves by quantum operators selecting precise real states from infinite variation within the singularity. [280, posted]

4. Aristotle (300 bce) devised hylomorphism (wiki) to realize Plato’s forms with matter (= energy). Assume that the energy of universe is 0, and let's guess that fixed quantum states split the singularity into kinetic (particle) and potential (binding) energy (think pendulum). [279, posted]

5. Abstract forms are invisible but described mathematically by von Neumann’s model of quantum mechanics. Events selected by unitary operators are made visible by energy. Laboratory work shows that all the particles created by QM and gravitation are either fermions or bosons. [279, posted]

6. Fermions are massive entities described by the Dirac equation, sources that can send and receive messages. They need 3D space to move independently because two of them cannot occupy the same place: the Pauli exclusion principle. They may be understood as the origin of space. [279, posted]

7. Bosons unite fermions.They speak three languages: electromagnetic, weak and strong. Gravitation is codeless, a continuous meaningless topological manifold. Massless bosons travel at light speed on null geodesics. The spacetime distance between their birth and death is zero. [279, posted]

8. Bosons and fermions define the 4D spacetime of special relativity. Fermions need 3D space to move. Massless bosons, with one foot in Hilbert space, provide the complex time coordinate for null geodesics. This space provides the geometric foundation for Einstein gravitation. [280, posted]

9. At the end of his paper on the field equation of gravitation Einstein writes: the postulate of general relativity cannot reveal to us anything new and different about the essence of the various processes in nature than what the special theory of relativity taught us already. [280, posted]

10. The computational power of quantum mechanics combined with energy from gravitation accounts for all the known elementary particles and their interactions with one another. Their properties define spacetime and the construction of complex living networks like us and the world. [280, posted]

[Here ends the ten point construction of the universe, transfer to L4L index and rite commentary.]

When I was little someone convinced me that masturbation, on of my favourite occupations, was a mortal sin. No heaven for me. In a panic of supererogation I became a monk. There I met Thomas Aquinas who perverted Aristotle to prove that his god exists. Bernard Lonergan reinforced the error and tipped me over the edge. I rejected their god. They rejected me.

A union of theology and physics is very exciting. It redeems quantum mechanics from Einstein’s scorn. An uncertain spinning die is definite when it lands. Like a die, QM chooses a precise answer from many possibilities because the real line measures zero in the complex plane. [277, posted]

Reading the AI exegesis of my comments on X they seem quite good and recover a lot of the reasoning in the quote that is excluded by the 280 character limit.

In the Shannon theory of communication the sum of the probabilities of the elements of a source alphabet is 1. The unitarity of the quantum mechanics driving the world reflects this normalization. So the physical action of the divine world is the “Bible” of scientific theology. [278, posted]

The worst problems of the Roman Catholic Church are papal autocracy and claimed infallibility, the claim that it is the one true church, its claim that women are not human enough to be priests and its radical denial of obvious scientific facts like evolution, death and its claim for the cosmic significance of the death of one man. Jeffrey Nicholls (2014):

It’s a struggle to compress a story of the universe into 280 letter posts but so far so good: three done, just 7 to go. Elon’s “AI” seems to be able to focus on what I am trying to say by adding a bit of context. The real truth is the whole world, not just some “God Equation”. [280,posted]

US market crash today. The MAGA man’s madness is starting to show. I am beginnning to see that X will be the venue where scientific theology triumphs. After these ten tweets we will explain why my theory is so superior.

Matter and spirit. Many traditions distinguish matter from spirit, reserving [the study of] matter for for physics, spirit for theology. The union of physics and theology has required us to go deeper, right down to the initial singularity where matter and spirit are one, as in God. Then comes the distinction between quantum mechanics and visible and tangible reality, so quantum mechanics is the spirit which is made material by gravitation. This union of matter and spirit

[page 133]

is the work of quantum mechanics and gravitation which gives every particle a living soul. The barrier between matter and spirit is the barrier between Minkowski space and quantum theory. Still trying to push the boundary to get consistent story

The model outlined in the ten previous posts serves to make the case that the universe is divine;some points:

0. Heuristic of simplicity;
1. Matter and spirit: points of similarity and difference:
2. Body and soul: [advantage of Darwinian genetics over Lamarkian bodily modification];
3. No need for quantum field theory;
4. Universally observable - the Universe is our Bible:
5. How do we see the mind of of in bodies?;
6. No need for quantum gravity;

There seems to be feeling in the physics industry that if we build a bigger collider we will discover more particles which will solve all our problems. My feelings that once we liberate the computational power [of quantum mechanics] from the constraints of field theory by moving Hilbert space [from Minkowski space] to the initial singularity [which is just as real and sensible as gravitation] we will be able to find quantum mechanical algorithms to solve all our problems, like the interior of a proton [given that all these problems were solved long ago by evolution long before physicists evolved] . The introduction of spurious infinities and the construction of renormalization to get unitarity back on track will be shown to have been a distraction cured incidentally by the union of physics and theology in cognitive cosmogenesis.

[A new tweet] Cognitive cosmogenesis sees quantum mechanics as a means of computation, logic and thought rather than simply as physics. Quantization occurs because logical operations are represented by discrete self-adjoint operators with definite real outcomes rather than as continuous flows. [280posted]

1. [A new tweet] Matter and Spirit: Many ancient traditions associate matter with darkness and spirit with light. To see that bother are parts of the same world, we must go go deeper, right down to the initial singularity where matter and spirit are one, as in God. The first part of spacetime to emerge from quantum mechanics [is time] and the clue lies in the fact that quantum events are random in time even though they are precise in form. The random timing of quantum events is a consequence of the random creation and annihilation of Hilbert bases in the singularity by the Brouwer fixed point theorem. Time finally became organized into specific intervals when the quantum of action was coupled to energy, E = ℏ&0mega;, in some way connected to the formation of space [via fermions]. Since I have written the book, which in effect laid out the problems, solutions have been coming thick and fast [and I am tweeting them straight onto X].

Tonight I attended a concert of sacred music, a mass by Rossini, Petit Messe Sollennelle which is an example (among millions of others) of human real physical creativity motivated by the false mythologies of some religion. In general we may say that religions are the human practical response to the need to have a theory of everything, a theology [for location in the world]. Petite messe solennelle - Wikipedia

Heuristic - Wikipedia, Heuristic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, ' A heuristic or heuristic technique (problem solving, mental shortcut, rule of thumb) is any approach to problem solving that employs a pragmatic method that is not fully optimized, perfected, or rationalized, but is nevertheless "good enough" as an approximation or attribute substitution. Where finding an optimal solution is impossible or impractical, heuristic methods can be used to speed up the process of finding a satisfactory solution. Heuristics can be mental shortcuts that ease the cognitive load of making a decision.

Heuristic reasoning is often based on induction, or on analogy ... Induction is the process of discovering general laws ... Induction tries to find regularity and coherence ... Its most conspicuous instruments are generalization, specialization, analogy. Jeffrey Nicholls (1992), An essay on the divinity of money , ' The rise of science questioned revelation and the churches as sources of truth, but they have remained in existence because science still lacks the power to ask or answer the fundamental questions of life and death that concern theology. Here I outline a new scientific theology whose model of god derives not from ancient text but from the mathematical theory of text and communication itself. I propose that this model describes the universe of our experience, which is therefore fittingly called god. I then interpret this model using elements of current physical theory. These ideas are then applied to money. The movement of money is an abstract representation of the the activity of society as a whole, just as the flow of momentum in space-time is an abstract representation of the physical universe. My hypothesis is that proper understanding and political control of public cashflows is necessary and sufficient to obtain peaceful civilisation.' back

Jeffrey Nicholls (2014), About the Roman Catholic Church, ' The Roman Catholic Church (rcc) is the worlds largest and oldest embodiment of Christianity. This site owes its existence to the rcc. I was born within it, became dissatisfied with it, and am now intent in reforming it. Without the education, pain and inspiration it gave me, these pages would not exist.
The distinction between the rcc and Christianity in general developed slowly, becoming entrenched in the period of the Reformation and Counter Reformation (1517-1563). In 1517 Martin Luther published 95 theses, concerning errors and abuses in the Roman Church. Luther
The Catholic Church responded to Luther and the other Protestants through the Council of Trent (1545-1563). JillVaughan & Josef Noel Tye (2025_11_10), Kneecap is revitalising Irish. These 5 artists are doing the same for Indigenous languages, 'Northern Irish hip hop trio Kneecap have been making waves, not just as musicians, but as language activists who rap in both English and their native Irish. In Belfast’s Gaeltacht Quarter, Irish is a living language. It is also a political statement – a form of resistance against British cultural dominance.
Kneecap’s music is having a big impact, particularly on young Irish people. While language study in Northern Ireland is declining overall, the number of students taking Irish at the GCSE level has increased in recent years.
This isn’t an isolated trend. Indigenous communities the world over are working to save and strengthen their own languages. Languages don’t die on their own. They are driven to endangerment by colonialism and assimilation – actively minoritised.
In the modern nation of Australia, all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages are now under threat. Australia suffers from a bad case of “monolingual mindset” which can blind us to the cultural and social benefits of multilingualism.
About 120 First Nations languages are spoken here today. A dozen traditional and several new languages are still learned by Aboriginal children.
Many other “sleeping” First Nations languages are being revitalised through inspiring work around the country.' back

Laura Snapes (2025_11_02), Rosalía Berghain Review, ' The Top 10 of today’s Spotify Global Top 50 looks like business as usual: two Taylor Swift songs; Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ Die With a Smile hanging around for an eighth month; the eminently normal male pop stars Sombr and Alex Warren doing brisk business. But nestled among the crowd-pleasers is something of an outlier: a gothic, baroque assault powered by Vivaldi-style strings and operatic singing in German and Spanish.
Berghain is the lead single from Catalan pop star Rosalía’s fourth album, Lux, a monumental orchestral feat that has confounded critics and fans alike.
It features the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO), a Catalan choir, Björk offering “divine intervention” and the alternative-rock star Yves Tumor reprising Mike Tyson’s 2002 tirade at opponent Lennox Lewis: “I’ll fuck you ’til you love me.”
Since her breakout album El Mal Querer in 2018, the 33-year-old musician and producer born Rosalía Vila Tobella has made her name on visionary avant garde mutations of the flamenco she studied at a prestigious music school. She has also attracted praise and controversy for exploring Caribbean and Latin sounds on her 2022 album Motomami.
Her new record centres her classical training: the LSO is featured throughout – directed by Daníel Bjarnason – alongside fado and flamenco singers. “It is thrilling to watch this woman grow,” Björk wrote in an approving tweet. “Congratulations to her with this incredible album, switching genre kung-fu style. This concept is fierce".' back

Laura Snapes(2025_11_07), ‘It’s impossible not to have contradictions in a contradictory world’: Catalan pop visionary Rosalía on critics, crisis and being ‘hot for God’, ' Rosalía Vila Tobella is just as bored as you are of pop music functioning as gossip column fodder, with lyrics full of hints of rivalries and betrayal. “I’m tiring of seeing people referencing celebrities, and celebrities referencing other celebrities,” she says. “I’m really much more excited about saints.” The 33-year-old Catalan musician and producer’s monumental fourth album, Lux, draws on the lives of dozens of female saints, inspired by “feminine mysticism, spirituality” and how lives of murder, materialism and rebellion could light the way to canonisation. Rosalía reels them off. Her gothic, operatic new single Berghain borrows from the 12th-century German abbess Hildegard of Bingen (cited like Madonna these days by experimental female musicians). “She had these visions that would pierce her brain. There’s also Vimala, who wrote poetry but was a prostitute, and she ended up becoming a saint because she was one of the first women who wrote in the Therīgāthā,” an ancient Buddhist poem collection written by nuns. Santa Olga de Kyiv, who lived in the 10th century, converted to Christianity, Rosalía continues. “She was considered a saint because she brought so many people to that religion. But she was an assassin – when her husband was killed, she, out of revenge, killed a lot of men. It’s crazy that person can become a saint. In different religions, contexts, cultures, sainthood is understood so differently".' back

Lee Billings (2025_04_07), Quantum Physics Is on the Wrong Track, Says Breakthrough Prize Winner Gerard ’t Hoof, 'the Netherlands, has spent much of the past five decades reshaping our understanding of the fundamental forces that knit together reality. But ’t Hooft’s unassuming, soft-spoken manner belies his towering scientific stature, which is better revealed by the mathematical rigor and deep physical insights that define his work—and by the prodigious numbers of prestigious prizes he has accrued, which include a Nobel Prize, a Wolf Prize, a Franklin Medal, and many more.
His latest accolade, announced last April, is the most lucrative in all of science: a Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics, worth $3 million, in recognition of ’t Hooft’s myriad contributions to physics across his long career.
His most celebrated discovery—the one that earned him, along with his former Ph.D. thesis adviser, the late Martinus Veltman, the 1999 Nobel Prize in Physics—showed how to make sense of non-Abelian gauge theories, which are complex mathematical frameworks that describe how elementary particles interact. Together, ’t Hooft and Veltman demonstrated that these theories could be renormalized, meaning intractable infinite quantities that cropped up in calculations could be tamed in a consistent and precise way. This feat would change the course of science history, laying the groundwork for the Standard Model, the reigning paradigm of particle physics. [. . .]
Quantum mechanics is the possibility that you can consider superpositions of states. That’s really all there is to it. And I’d argue that superpositions of states are not real. If you look very carefully, things never superimpose. Erwin Schrödinger asked the right questions here—you know, take my cat; it can be dead, it can be alive. Can it be in a superposition? That’s nonsense .[. . .]
I think quantum technology is just what you get if you assume the reality of superimposed systems. What do I mean by that? We know superposition in the macroscopic world is nonsense. That’s clear. And I believe that in the microscopic world it’s clearly nonsense, too, even though it may seem we have nothing besides superposition to use to understand atoms. What people in quantum technology probably don’t realize is that they’re doing the very converse of what they think they are doing. They think they’re understanding quantum mechanics. I think what they should be doing instead is trying to remove the quantum mechanics from the description, trying to use more fundamental degrees of freedom, like those discrete states I mentioned[. . ].
A simpler question is: Can you formulate quantum mechanics without a superposition principle? And my answer is yes. In one of my last papers on arXiv.org, I wrote a little simple model—too simple to be useful in the real world. But the model is just a clock with a pendulum that moves in a very organized way, and that pendulum drives a wheel that shows the time, the hands that show the minutes and seconds. I call it my “grandfather’s clock” model. From the pendulum, you can derive what time the hands should show. And these hands are deterministic. They are just showing a time with infinite precision, say. The pendulum is really a quantum pendulum—it can be quantized; we can write quantum equations for it.' back

Petite messe solennelle - Wikipedia, Petite messe solennelle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, ' Gioachino Rossini's Petite messe solennelle (Little Solemn Mass) was written in 1863, possibly at the request of Count Alexis Pillet-Will for his wife Louise, to whom it is dedicated. The composer, who had retired from composing operas more than 30 years before, described it as "the last of my péchés de vieillesse" (sins of old age).
The extended work is a missa solemnis (solemn Mass), but Rossini ironically labeled it petite (little). He scored it originally for twelve singers, four of them soloists, two pianos and harmonium. The mass was first performed on 14 March 1864 at the couple's new home in Paris. Rossini later produced an orchestral version, including an additional movement, a setting of the hymn "O salutaris hostia" as a soprano aria. This version was not performed during his lifetime because he was unable to obtain permission to have female singers in a church. It was finally performed at the Salle Ventadour in Paris by the company of the Théâtre-Italien on 24 February 1869, three months after his death.' back
